This page serves as a place to see and register for the various activities and options that will be available during your stay in the Florida Keys. Learn the details and requirements for each adventure and choose the fun that’s right for you!

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITY AND GENERAL NOTES:

  • Transport to and from the Florida Sea Base is guests’ responsibility. Shuttles are available for an additional fee per person.

    • A shuttle will run from Miami Airport to Florida Sea Base in Islamorada on Friday, 10/11, leaving the airport at 3pm. We recommend scheduling your flight to land in Miami no later than 2pm if you wish to take this shuttle.

    • A shuttle will depart Florida Sea Base in Islamorada for Miami International Airport on Monday, 10/14 at 9am (arriving at approximately 11am). We recommend scheduling flights home no sooner than 1pm if you wish to take this shuttle.

    • For guests visiting Key West on Saturday, 10/12, after the Munson Island Cracker Barrel, return shuttles will be available for $25/person. One will depart Key West for Islamorada at 10:30pm, and another is scheduled to depart at 11:30pm. Shuttles will depart from the Key West Post Office. (Note: If you arrange your own transport to and from Key West, there is no fee for this activity).

    All minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the reunion.  

    All events planned are dependent upon the cooperation of the weather and safe seas.

    Check-in begins at 1pm on Friday, 10/11, at the Registration Building (73800 Overseas Hwy, Islamorada, FL 33036). Enjoy a quick dinner at your favorite Keys hang-out before joining us for a welcome reception on Friday night!

    • SATURDAY ACTIVITY OPTIONS

      • Munson Island: The Munson Island activity will be a day of service and enjoyment. You will give back to the Florida Sea Base by assisting with cleaning and other light work, all while enjoying the beauty of the island and beaches. We recommend that guests bring swimwear, sun protection, and water shoes. A picnic lunch will be provided.

        Bahia Honda/Camp Sawyer/Coral Nursery Tour: Guests will be transported to 3 separate locations to enjoy different aspects of Sea Base and Keys Life.

        • Bahia Honda, enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches in the Florida Keys, until ~12pm 

        • Sea Base Camp Sawyer for a picnic lunch until 2pm 

        • An active coral nursery to learn how Sea Base helps restore our coral reefs

        Guests will then be transported to Munson Island for the Campfire and Cracker Barrel (swimwear and water shoes are recommended for wading to the island).

        Snorkeling at Looe Key: Snorkeling will be hosted by the Florida Sea Base with travel to the reef provided on our boats. Equipment – including masks, fins, and life jackets – will be available for use. A packed lunch will be provided. Guests must be at least 12 years old, and minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. After a fun day on the water, guests will return and be brought to Munson Island for the Campfire and Cracker Barrel (swimwear and water shoes are recommended for wading to the island).

        Fishing Excursion: The Fishing Adventure will be hosted by the Brinton Environmental Center on our own expert fishing vessels for a day casting out on the open ocean. Equipment and a packed lunch will be provided, but supplying luck will be up to you. Guests must be at least 12 years old, and minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. 

        *Please note that a legal and active Florida Fishing License is REQUIRED for each guest to participate in this activity. These may be purchased online ahead of time from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.  Youth below the age of 16, and Florida Residents over the age of 65 are exempt from this requirement.

        After a day of fishing, guests will return and be brought to Munson Island for the Campfire and Cracker Barrel (swimwear and water shoes are recommended for wading to the island).

        SCUBA Adventure to Looe Key: The SCUBA adventure will be hosted by Capt. Hooks Dive Charters. Equipment is available to borrow for all divers, and a packed lunch will be provided. This adventure has an 8 person minimum, and SBAFA will contact any guests who have signed up to discuss refunds and alternative activities if the minimum is not met. 

        After the Munson Island Campfire and Cracker Barrel, all guests will be brought back to the Brinton Environmental Center, where showers will be available. For guests visiting Key West, shuttles will depart at approximately 8pm. For guests not taking the Key West trip, dinner will be served at that time followed by transport back to Islamorada for the night.

    • SUNDAY ACTIVITY OPTIONS:

      • Camp Activities: Enjoy a fun morning exploring the activities and waterways around the Islamorada Sea Base property. Take advantage of the fleet of kayaks and paddleboards to get up close and personal with mangroves, fishes, and the island coast. Staff will be available to assist with equipment, and life jackets will be provided.

      • Snorkeling at Alligator Lighthouse: Snorkeling will be hosted by the Florida Sea Base for a fun morning on the reef! Guests will ride out to the famed Alligator Lighthouse for a tropical adventure. Equipment – including masks, fins, and life jackets – will be provided by Sea Base.  Guests will return to camp for lunch. All guests must be at least 12 years old, and minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

      • Fishing Charter: Fishing will be hosted at Robbie’s Marina from 7am to 11am. Guests must be at Robbie’s dock by 7am. Early breakfast and transport from the Florida Sea Base will be available. Spots may be limited for this adventure.

        *Please note that a legal and active Florida Fishing License is REQUIRED for each guest to participate in this activity. These may be purchased online ahead of time from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission Youth below the age of 16, and Florida Residents over the age of 65 are exempt from this requirement.

      • Morning SCUBA: The morning SCUBA dive trip will be hosted by Key Dives diving charter from 7:45 to 11:45am. Guests must be at Key Dives’ dock by 7:45. Early breakfast and transport from the Florida Sea Base will be available. Diving equipment will be available to borrow.

        * Please note that all divers must have an Open Water Dive Certification at minimum. Spots may be limited for this adventure.

    • Limited activities are planned for Sunday afternoon. Sea Base camp activities will continue to be available for all guests. 

      Board Meeting: Starting at 3:30pm, guests are welcome to join the Sea Base Alumni & Friends Association for our board meeting, where we will discuss ongoing and future activities and news. Learn about our mission to help support the Florida Sea Base camp activities and see how you can help in the coming years!

      Time Capsule Event: Joinus at 5pm for a very special time capsule event. Guests are invited to bring small objects to be placed within two sealed bottles for safe storage and opened far in the future! Leave your mark and greetings for future generations of campers, alumni, and friends to find! All guests are welcome to participate.

      Sunset Cruise and Luau: All guests are invited on a sunset cruise at 6pm to enjoy the end of a beautiful day on the open water, followed by a special Luau Dinner at camp at 7:30pm on shore. Guests who have donated to be a Newton- or Sextant-level SBAFA member are invited to an evening cocktail reception at the general manager’s house.
